Just like all of our weeks in Room 123, this past week was full of learning! In math, we practiced addition, subtraction, creating equal groups, graphing, naming shapes, and dividing shapes in half (symmetry). It was wonderful to see each child write their own addition or subtraction word problem, and to watch them have fun with subtraction through math theater.
During language arts time, the kids wrote about their favorite animal, compared two animals using a T-chart, observed and wrote about their plants, and practiced their decoding skills, and read many, many books!
On Monday, each table group was able to use their collaborative farm designs to bring their own farm "to life." By the end of the week, the crops had already started to grow! The kids also had art time this week, and Sr. González taught them a lesson based off of Andy Warhol's work. They turned out fantastically! We ended the week with talleres - the kids could choose between going outside, watching videos about space, and painting pigs.
Each week your children spend in kindergarten, they impress me more and more with their Spanish, their sense of curiosity, their joy for life, and their insights. I cannot believe how far they have come since the beginning of the year! It is a pleasure to watch them grow each day.
