In literacy we have continued to work on describing items, such as cardboard boxes and animals, through writing, conversations, fun songs, and games. As a daily routine we continue to review the alphabet and work in small groups on more targeted skills such as blending syllables, reading words, and identifying rhymes. In math our focus continues to be on naming and identifying teen numbers, subitizing numbers, and counting. The kids are definitely taking on more responsibility in making sure they work well in their small groups and reflecting on how difficult or easy a given task is for them.
Some fun activities this week were finding and cutting images from magazines to have their classmates guess what it was and getting creative in transforming cardboard boxes!
We have also began spending more time reading and learning about different animals as well as observing different animals through videos and live feeds such as this one www.dnr.state.mn.us/features/webcams/eaglecam/index.html. When we come back from break we will officially begin our unit all about animals which is super exciting for our class! It's honestly amazing how many facts about animals so many of our students can readily share
