In math, we learned about measuring. We talked about how to measure something properly (start on one end, measure in a straight line, don't have any space between your measuring tools, etc.). They explored comparing the lengths of different objects, measuring with their hands, and measuring with cubes. They discovered why it's important to have standard units of measurement - they will learn more about measuring in first grade.
We had our last buddy reading time with the fourth grade students this week, and the kids worked very hard during writing time this week. They used graphic organizers to write down different characteristics of their favorite animal, and then used those graphic organizers the next day to make a cute flip book.
On Friday, we challenged the kids' brains by double doodling - drawing with both of your hands at the same time. Look here to see how it's done, or to try it with your kids! They were enthralled, and stuck with this challenging activity for quite some time. We also had our last talleres - painting hyacinths, playing with frisbees, or playing outside or inside.
As next week is the last week of school, lots of things will be sent home with your child. Please help them to empty their folders and backpacks each day.
