In math, we practiced writing the numbers 1-5 correctly and neatly, learned several new games, learned about 5-groups (6 is 5 and 1; 7 is 5 and 2, etc.), and acted out math stories through math theater, which the kids really enjoyed. A new important concept which we began to focus on this week is one more and one less.
This week, we also continued reading Who is Special stories, which the kids love. On Thursday, we went on a walk to find leaves. Then, we enjoyed one of the best parts of fall - playing in a pile of leaves and a leaf fight! We had a wonderful time bonding and laughing as a class. Then, we took our favorite leaves inside for some art - leaf rubbings! The kids were so impressed with their new-found ability to make a leaf appear "like magic." We ended the week with our fall fiesta. Thank you to those of you who were able to come - it was wonderful!
On Wednesday, November 1st, we will be going to Westwood Nature Center for our first field trip of the year. The topic will be apples! Throughout the upcoming week, we will be doing activities and learning new words related to apples. To help us with this, please send 1 or 2 apples of different colors to school with your child by Tuesday. ¡Gracias!
Parents who will be chaperoning, we will be gone from about 8:45 - 10:45am. Please be at school before then if you plan on riding the bus with the kids.
Thursday, November 2nd & Friday, November 3rd
If you do not remember when you signed up for your conference, feel free to check via the Sign Up Genius link here, or to contact me. I am looking forward to talking with all of you!
