On Wednesday, we went on a field trip to Westwood Hills Nature Center to learn all about animal schedules and animal treasures. The field trip was complete with time to play, a puppet show, and a walk to search for animal treasures around the nature center.
To continue our learning about animals, we learned a new song about farm animals, compared and contrasted nocturnal and diurnal (daytime) animals, played animal charades, and drew our favorite animals in their habitats. We also learned the names of some baby animals and had fun drawing them.
In math, we continued to work on the skill of subtraction in concrete ways. We played a game called "Get off my boat!" on Friday, which was quite amusing for the kids. We also refreshed our memories on teen numbers, and how to create equal groups through either adding or subtracting. We also practiced identifying and naming shapes through a few Cat in the Hat games during computer time. The week ended with talleres, where the kids were able to choose from flying a kite, drawing with chalk, or playing parachute games.

Next year, 8 new Spanish-speaking Amity Interns will join the PSI community to enrich our students' school experience. However, for this to be possible, the Amity Interns need a place to live during the school year. Please consider hosting an Amity Intern for either fall semester (end of August to mid-January) or spring semester (mid-January to mid-June).
