One of the high school science teachers came to our class this week to talk about what a scientist does, to differentiate between man-made and natural objects, and to talk about animals' and plants' needs. Those lessons were the basis used to plan, design, and then to build a miniature farm! The kids worked with their peers at their tables to design a farm that meets both animals' and plants' needs. They worked well together, and they were very proud of their accomplishments!
On Wednesday and Thursday, the kids worked hard on a writing project, which was a pop-up card as a final product. We have been focusing on writing complete sentences (capital letters and periods) and using verbs correctly. To draw their animals, they used the iPads for the YouTube channel Art for Kids Hub. This website has been a wonderful tool we have used this year to learn how to draw. The site was created by a talented man named Rob. He and his children record and share weekly drawing lessons that are very kid friendly. Feel free to try it out at home!
We ended the week by starting a line sculpture (more to come next week) and with talleres. The kids could draw animals with Sra. Wieber, play games with Sra. Hidalgo, or play with the parachute in the gym with me. It was a great way to end the week!
