Art was a focus this week as we made our own apple books, painted fall trees, drew things that start with the letter Mm and made little color books about a chameleon (based on the story Su propio color by Leo Lioni). In the computer lab we used a new math website to play games and they also sang along to alphabet songs. We went to the St. Louis Park Library on Thursday morning, which was fun to see them get so excited about reading!
This week, we also continued reading Who is Special stories, which the kids love. On Friday, we went on a walk to find leaves. The kids were amazed to see how many different leaves we could find. Then, we took our favorite leaves inside for some art - leaf rubbings! The kids were so impressed with their new-found ability to make a leaf appear "like magic." We ended the week with our fall fiesta. Thank you to those of you who were able to come - it was wonderful!
On Thursday, October 31st, we will be going to Westwood Nature Center for our first field trip of the year. The topic will be apples! Throughout the upcoming week, we will be doing activities and learning new words related to apples. To help us with this, please send 1 or 2 apples of different colors to school with your child by Wednesday. ¡Gracias!
Parents who will be chaperoning, we will be gone from about 8:45 - 10:45am. Please be at school before then if you plan on riding the bus with the kids.
