In writing this week, we emphasized the use of adjectives, brainstorming various types of words we can use to describe something (i.e. color, shape, size, texture, etc.). We began to practice what it looks like to write something in a full sentence, and will continue to work on that as the year progresses.
We ended the week with a bang by engaging in our first science experiment of the year. The kids made "snow" using baking soda and shaving cream. Sharing a sensory bin with one other person, they made snowballs, snowmen, snow mountains, snow castles, snow volcanoes...the list goes on. =] Then, to finish the science fun, each pair was given some vinegar to see what happened to their snow. The squeals of delight that filled the room were more than enough encouragement to plan more science experiments!
