We wrapped up our science unit on paper and wood this past week. The kids made two different kids of wood (particleboard and plywood). They could mold the particleboard into any shape they wanted, which was a very exciting opportunity, just ask them. =] They also created a final masterpiece by using various paper and wood products to create a sculpture. At the end of the week, our class and Sra. Wieber's class hosted an exposition to display their sculptures and to see what the other class made. It turned out quite well, and the kids were enthusiastically sharing information about their sculptures (mostly in Spanish!) with their peers. The second writing project of the week was to describe their own sculpture.
Throughout the rest of the week, Sr. González taught the kids an art lesson about Joan Miró, we went to the computer lab to play math games, we watched the fifth graders put on a short play about the earth, and we went to the library as well.
Have a wonderful spring break! I'm looking forward to all the stories I will hear next week!
