We also practiced sequencing skills, using the familiar book Los tres cerditos (The Three Little Pigs). We have been practicing hearing and writing the first letter in a word, and we also continue to sound out simple words in Spanish. As the kids grow in phonemic awareness and phonetic ability, their reading and writing skills will take off!
On Wednesday, we had an all-school assembly to watch the 2nd - 5th grade students involved in Baile Folklórico dance traditional dances from Spanish-speaking countries around the world. We all enjoyed the music and beautiful costumes!
This week's favorite book, by a landslide, was Marc Barnett's Sam y Leo Cavan un Hoyo (Sam and Dave Dig a Hole). As part of each week's vote, the students share about why they like the books. Students are beginning to give their reasons in full sentences - in Spanish! It's very exciting to hear this progress!

There will be a donation box in our classroom. Please send non-perishable and household items with your child if you can support this drive.
