We have been reading the 50 sight words and many other words! Some students are working on writing two- and three-syllable words, while others are beginning to write simple sentences. Please encourage your child to try to write words. The reluctant writers may surprise themselves when they realize that they do know the sounds of the words if they listen to them. If they say the words slowly, breaking apart each sound or syllable, it is easier to hear the sounds that they need to write. For example: sol = s-o-l,
pato = pa-to.
And as is always true this time of the year, I am hearing more Spanish! It makes my teacher heart sing when students try to use only Spanish. While it can be difficult to express themselves, those that take the risk learn the most. Keep encouraging your child to try!
If your child loves art and would like to showcase one of their original pieces, this is a great opportunity! The art work must be original and must be 2D (flat). We cannot hang canvases, but you could take a photo if your child has created art on canvas an submit that. The artwork should be 12x18 inches or smaller, and their work needs to be turned in between April 28 - May 3. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
