We wrapped up our formal instruction of the vowels this week with a review of the letter Ii. Focus words were iguana, iglú, insecto, and isla (island). Someone realized today that inglés (English) also starts with the letter Ii.
Here's a fun song we learned. It's to the tune of La cucaracha, and sounds best with a maraca or two!
Next week we will learn more words that begin with the letter Mm! We will do many activities related to manzanas (apples). If possible, would you please send 2 or 3 apples with your child on Monday or Tuesday? We'll use these for math activities and at Westwood Nature Center. Thanks!
And with that, comes winter clothes! Kindergarteners go outside every day for recess, so please send appropriate clothing with your child. Below are a few tips to help our transitions to and from recess go smoothly:
Label your child's clothing!
Help your child to practice getting him/herself dressed in their winter clothing.
Help your child to practice zipping their coat.
Help your child to practice tying their shoes and closing their boots, if necessary.
Monday - Leer-a-tón (Read-a-thon) ends; send in your packets next week.
Tuesday - Field trip to Westwood Nature Center
Thursday - Parent/Teacher Conferences
Friday - Fall Party 1:30-2:30 pm; Everyone's welcome!
