Last week we finished up our Paper and Wood unit by creating with wood. On Monday, the students had a great time using hammers and nails. On Tuesday, they used wood, paper, and cardboard to make sculptures, which they wrote about on Wednesday. On Thursday, Sra. Lindsey's class and several first grade classes visited our Builder's Fair to see our sculptures (see the photos below). I also included photos from the school Career Fair that we attended on Wednesday morning. The students were interested in learning about a variety of different jobs.
Please return the order form or order photos on-line if you are interested. Ordering photos is optional.
To compliment our upcoming study of animals, the students will be using the kindergarten website titled "Los animales." On there, you will find several videos with information about animals.

At conferences we spoke about the syllable and sight word goals for kindergarten. The kindergarten objective is that students will read 20 syllables in one minute and the 50 sight words. Sight words are the most commonly-used words in Spanish (is, has, what, he, etc.). I've attached a list of the syllables we have worked with this year and a list of the 50 words. We continue to work with both lists daily in school. You are welcome to use these lists at home, but you are not obligated to do so.
