Here is a link to the video we watched. On this same site there are numerous other videos created by Georgia Public Broadcasting Co. The videos are perfect for immersion students.
Math topics this week included several activities with shapes, both 2-D and 3-D, patterns, number partners (6 = 3+3, 4+2, etc.), and writing the numbers.
We focused on Yy and Zz in the past two weeks. New vocabulary includes:
y - and el yogur - yogurt el yak - yak
el yo-yo - yo-yo yo - I ya - already
el zorro - fox los zapatos - shoes el zorrillo - skunk
el zoológico - zoo las zanahorias - carrots el zumbido - buzzing
The Makerspace challenge was to build a marble maze using clay. The kids made some creative mazes. We sharpened our prediction skills during a science experiment about melting ice cubes. The results: an ice cube in water melts fastest, and an ice cube wrapped in newspaper inside of a jar melts slower than the others. I encourage you to replicate the experiment with your child at home.
