In conjunction with our review of colors, we read a story by Leo Lionni called "Su propio color." It's a story about a chamaleon who wishes he could remain just one color, like the other animals do. We drew and wrote about a favorite color in our journals and also did some Seesaw lessons to help us practice color words.

On Friday, I gave Cohort B another packet of materials that we will use during distance learning. Cohort A will get theirs on Tuesday. Cohort C and any others who don't come to school this week can pick up their packets from the school office Tuesday-Friday between 7:30 am and 3:00 pm.
Please keep these papers, and the ones sent previously, together in a place where your child can access them easily during Zoom classes. Storing them in your child's orange kindergarten folder (carpeta) might be a good place to keep them.
Each child also now has a plastic sleeve like the one pictured here. These are very useful because your child can write on them with a whiteboard marker. I will be asking your children to insert the different pages that I have given them into the sleeve so they can "write" on the pages. Here's a video showing an example of this.
While preparing for the Distance Learning Academy (which won't happen right now), I made gift bags for each child as a mini "I'm-glad-you-were-in-my-class" gift. I'm sending the gift bags home with the packet of new materials. I'm grateful that I get to keep working with all of your children!
Students in Cohorts A & B will check out books this week.
Students in Cohort C and students who will not come to school this week can come to school to check out books this Wednesday between 7:30 and 3:15. If you would like to get books, but are not comfortable coming into the school, please contact our Media Specialist Sara Vandewalker to discuss how to make that happen. ([email protected])
I will send you information about exchanging the library books when we determine how to best do that. On a related note, when the kindergarten team determines how to best get your child the books they will need for reading instruction, I will send you that information. Thank you for your patience.
While we are still working out some details, I can share with you that your child will have at least 3 daily Zoom classes with me: a morning meeting, a language arts class, and a math class. Both language arts and math will be small group classes (between 4 and 8 students) so I can best meet students' needs. Our class will also have live music and gym classes each week. Students will continue to do Seesaw lessons.
I intend to send you a class schedule and your child's individual schedule on Thursday or Friday of this week.
