Students were greeted by a parent parade of readers that morning to kick off this annual fundraiser. Your child received a packet with the instructions, a reading calendar to record their minutes, and a pledge sheet if your family will be collecting funds. The reading goal for each child is to read or be read to for 40 minutes every day. The final day of the Leer-a-tón is November 3.
Scholastic Book Fair in the PSI Media Center
October 21, 22, 23
2:45 - 8:00 pm
On Monday, October 27, we will be going to Westwood Nature Center for our first field trip of the year. The topic will be apples! Throughout the upcoming week, we will be doing activities and learning new words related to apples. To help us with this, please send
1 or 2 apples to school with your child by Wednesday. ¡Gracias!
Remember to dress your child for the weather! The children will continue to go outside daily, despite the cold weather that's bound to arrive soon. It is also a very good idea to label your child's jacket/sweatshirt/sweaters with their last name. They get lost easily, and are more likely to be returned to kindergarten if they are labeled.
Monday, October 20, is a late start day. School will begin at 10:25 a.m. Buses will pick up students exactly 2 hours later than normal. Teachers will be using this time to improve literacy instruction.
Your child is invited to wear orange next Wednesday, October 22, as a statement against bullying. See more details in your child's carpeta (folder).
