We celebrated Pp week with pijamas y peluches (pajamas and stuffed animals) on Wednesday, and by making pan (bread) on Thursday. In the past two weeks we also learned about más and menos (more/less), graphing, and some new math games. We continue to hone our counting and number writing skills. Literacy activities included forming the letters with clay, guessing games, matching upper and lower case letters, tracing the letters, and initial sound sorting.
We drew niños, niñas, and patos. We built structures with blocks and craft sticks, and we helped each other to create items with pipe cleaners and tin foil in the Makerspace Lab. In the computer lab, we had the chance to explore the kindergarten literacy sites. We searched for signs of fall on our nature walks. We ended the week with a funny story about Elephant and Pig, acted out by Sra. Lindsey and Sra. Wieber.

PTO Literacy Night ~ Tuesday, October 24 ~ 6:30-8:00 pm ~ PSI
Join us to listen to author Catherine Thimmesh sing songs and tell stories during the PSI Leer-a-tón (Read-a-thon)! Bring a blanket, enjoy some s'mores, and get 40 minutes for your reading calendar!
Leer-A-Tón Packets were sent home on Thursday. Your child received a packet with the instructions, a reading calendar to record their minutes, and a pledge sheet if your family will be collecting funds. The reading goal for each child is to read or be read to for 40 minutes every day. This is one of our school's most important fundraisers. Thanks for participating!
The other SLP elementary schools are also hosting author nights for their read-a-thons. Families are welcome to attend any of the following events:
Chris Monroe at Aquila on October 17
Eileen Beha at Peter Hobart on October 25
Douglas Wood at Susan Lindgren on October 26
Don't forget that in the PSI Media Center, we will have a Scholastic Book Fair on
