The characters in "The Mitten" are:
el niño (the boy) el topo (the mole)
el conejo (the rabbit) el puercoespín (the porcupine)
el búho (the owl) el tejón (el badger)
el zorro (the fox) el oso (the bear)
el ratón (the mouse) la abuela (the grandmother)
In math, we have been working on number partners (6 is 1+5 or 2+4 or 3+3, etc.), 10-frames, teen numbers, and writing numbers. Our Makerspace challenge was to build a tricky structure using just six blocks.
Just before break, we started to share noticias (news) with one another to get to know each other better. The kids have several opportunities a week to share special things that are happening in their lives. I love hearing their stories and am so excited to hear some of them using Spanish when they are sharing! Their language production really starts to soar at this point of the year!
Our letter of the week was Zz. The words we focused on are zapatos (shoes), zanahoria (carrot), zorro (fox), and zorillo (skunk).
