I hope your plants arrived intact!
Your plant likes bright, indirect light and moist soil. The stems of the plant will grow quite long, and the leaves at the base will fall off. When this happens, just pinch off that stem and put it in water, or even right into the soil. It will grow new roots and can be replanted. Mine does very well outside in the summer.
Art activities included painting a picture of sunflowers based on Van Gogh's work, and a Picasso-inspired face project. The students are fortunate to receive additional art instruction from community member Carole Humphrey. This week she will guide them through a two-lesson project modeled after James Rizzi's work.
Most of the classroom art in April and May focuses on animals. For most of the year, the students have been learning to draw with the help of a a wonderful website called Art for Kids Hub. The sight was created by a talented man named Rob. He and his children record and share weekly drawing lessons that are very kid friendly. He encourages kids to send their drawings to him, so last week we did just that! Everyone worked hard to draw and color a favorite animal, and we sent them all off to Utah. We'll be anxiously awaiting his response.
