Language Arts
Our goal is that every student learn the names and sounds of the Spanish alphabet, and is able to blend 2-4 letters together to read syllables and short words. Sra. Foreman, our reading specialist, meets with each class twice weekly and works with the classroom teachers to teach letters, sounds, and syllables. Students learn Tucker Signing Strategies to reinforce each letter sound. Watch the Tucker Signing Strategy video here.
Students also write often, starting with pre-writing exercises to build up their fine motor skills. They learn to write each letter correctly, and work in their journals on a regular basis.
